Important notice about the future of Long Island Genealogy
By January 1st 2016 I will need to make a decision on the future of Long Island Genealogy. I can no longer support the site on a fixed income. It has become a huge part of my life as well as a valued resource to many family history researchers. I'm faced with the choice of shutting down the site, which would wipe the resource from the internet, or make all or at least the Surname section (http://longislandsurnames.com) a subscription based service. I'm looking into the feasibility of that now. If that happens I would do my best to make it affordable for everyone. I'm considering a fee of $10 per month or $100 per year.
If anyone makes a $100 donation between now, 10/13/2015 and Jan 1st I will extend their membership through 2016. We’re a small self supporting community resource site with the expenses of a top website: servers, programs, equipment, research etc. We really feel Long Island Genealogy is something special. It is your family history library, updated and maintained by a small group of volunteers who have a passion for sharing Long Island's family history information. If our information has been helpful and you would like it to stay online to help others, please help by making a donation. Donations can be made either by mail or online by using this Link - Or through the Donate button on the left.
Thank you again for your continued support, and we look forward to continuing our research together in 2016!
